The first issue of (Oman Newspaper) was published on Saturday, November 18, 1972 AD, corresponding to Shawwal 12, 1393 AH, in eight pages, and was sold for 50 baisas. It was published on Saturday every week by the (General Directorate of Information and Tourism), and its editorial office was located in Beit Al Falaj. The subscription price for individuals was set at 3 Omani riyals, and for institutions and companies at 5 riyals.The first page of this issue was devoted to publishing the sublime speech of His Majesty the Sultan, and no tabulation or title for the pages appeared in this issue. Rather, the material was distributed across the eight pages, and varied between press interviews, reports, columns, literary materials and poetic texts. As for the last page of this issue, it published a congratulations of loyalty to the builder of the modern Omani renaissance, His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, signed by various Omani companies.
